Welcome

A warm welcome to the Interr newsletter.

Whether you work at Interr or are a client of Interr when you read our newsletter you will find comfort that the company you chose is a company that believes in social and environmental responsibility. Our CEO update includes all the projects we are supporting, and Rod, our Global MD, is writing about the charity close to our hearts.

Last year we started Interr France, and I just wanted to give a special mention to Morgane, Sylvain and Bruno. They have been in the UK office this week to meet with the team here, and while we were taking a short break during Xmas, they were setting up our new Paris-based office.

I also want to mention our German team, led by Diana, with a special big shout-out to Hans and Ricardo. Last year we started working with Amazon in Germany, and they have poured their heart and soul into making it a success.

Thank you to everyone at Interr for making the difference. We are truly a company built upon the passion of the people who work here and our clients’ belief in us.

In peace,

— Joachim Ritter

CEO Update

Welcome to our latest newsletter.  Thank you to everyone that has been a part of making last year so special.  It is the people that make Interr what it is, and we have been so very fortunate to welcome many new faces to the ever growing “Interr family”, in the UK, France and Germany. Seeing the dedication and care that everyone demonstrates in making sure that we support our staff and clients explains why we have continued to enjoy the success we have.

Achieving our Carbon Neutral accreditation has allowed Interr to support many exceptional projects around the world, such as the Burgos wind farm project in the Philippines, or the rice husk power plant in Cambodia. The Angkor Bio Cogen (ABC) project is the first renewable energy project to utilise rice husk as biomass fuel for electricity generation in Cambodia, which not only reduces the reliance on diesel to generate new power, but also ensures that the rice husk which was previously left to decay in the open space, no longer produce the harmful methane emissions, they previously did.

With all the projects we supported in the last year we have ensured that they are certified to the highest standards through the Verra – Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Gold Standard – Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER), and the United Nations – Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programmes. These projects when combined with our GHG reduction initiatives across the group, as well as our joint projects with our clients, have all helped to support our underlying ethos of always doing what we can, both individually and as a company to make the world a better place.

This approach also extends to our work with our chosen charities, Kids Out and Solace Women’s Aid, which you can read more about in Roderick’s article in this newsletter, both of which allow us to not only do what we can financially, but also donate time and energy into supporting the amazing work and initiatives they do on the ground.

“Achieving our Carbon Neutral accreditation has allowed Interr to support many exceptional projects around the world, such as the Burgos wind farm project in the Philippines, or the rice husk power plant in Cambodia.”

A key focus for Interr’s development in recent years, as well as being a part of our energy reduction drive, is our continued investment in new technologies that allow us and our clients to be more efficient with the management of staff, environments and information that make up our own key business units and the security programmes we support. And with the introduction of Interr’s Technology Team, who focus on supporting with convergent technology solutions for our clients and their facilities, we further enable the advances in security technology to act as a force multiplier to pivot to a proactive approach, reduce security headcount, or allow reappropriation of resources via reskilling and upskilling. Improving overall efficiency and effectiveness of security resources and business processes and help to better plan strategic security technology roadmaps.

To support with the industry’s changing approach and to continue to best manage our compliance in the newly introduced technologies, systems and platforms, and information security in general, we achieved ISO 27001 accreditation in October 2022. Additionally, we once again scored an outstanding +143 out of a maximum achievable +145 SIA ACS good practice points in our audit in April, putting Interr in the top percentile of Security companies for the ninth year in a row.

A status that is reflected in our newly published survey results for 2022. The surveys focus on 4 key areas, with each survey having a variety of questions, each scored out of a maximum of 5 possible points.  The data is captured throughout the year, across a variety of platforms, including anonymous feedback.

Results that are also only achievable because of the amazing work and achievements of our staff supporting our clients and their operations, each and every day. So, a huge thank you to all of Interr’s people, especially our employees of each quarter:  Mauro Mignozzetti, Adolfo Jose Ferreira, Babatunde Ademolu Agbenla and most recently Karol Machajewski. Your dedication to always ‘go the extra mile’ for your team, our company and the clients you support is truly appreciated.

And finally, to Interr’s employee of the year, Remzi Syla, who has been with us for 16 years and is a shining example to all of us, something that was precisely summed up by the Community Manager at WeWork where he currently supports.

“Remzi is a prime example of an SO that you would like to leave our WeWork in the safe hands of. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he is on hand day or night to allay mine’s and the team worries about things that may happen on the building overnight or at the weekend. He demonstrates on a daily basis the professionalism that is expected, and goes above and beyond to ensure our members receive the best possible experience when the CM teams are not in the building. Remzi is an exemplary colleague and an absolute pleasure to work with.”

I hope you enjoy the rest of this newsletter and look forward to seeing you in person as much as possible throughout the year.

CSR Update

In February 2022 was the annual Kensington Olympia Toyfair and as usual a wonderful team from Interr volunteered to take part in the ‘trolley dash’. You might remember the photos from last year if you were with us then, but if not there are a few from this year’s event below. This year was by far the most challenging however we collected a record number of toys with the final total likely to be around 5000.

All of the toys collected will form part of the toy box programme and will be sorted and distributed in the coming months to support children in refuges across the UK who have suffered domestic abuse.  Should you want to volunteer for a toy box packing day at the KidsOut warehouse then please do let us know and we can make the arrangements with you.

I would also like to take this opportunity to ask if you would be interested in supporting any of the 2023 events. There is the Royal Parks half marathon and tough mudder to name a few opportunities for fundraising, please do get in touch if you are interested in more information. If you want to see the full events calendar, then you can just click the link below:

https://www.kidsout.org.uk/how-you-can-help/fundraising/

Interr also took part in the Christmas ‘Giving Tree’ initiative that offers any member of our team the chance to donate a gift to a child in refuge through the KidsOut website. on December 21st our very own Global Managing Director and other members of the charity trustee board dressed as elves and travelled across London to collect 1000’s of toys and games that companies so generally donated. These were delivered in time for Christmas to all of the children that probably thought they were forgotten, I’m sure you will all agree there’s no better way to spread joy in the festive season.

For more information about our charity work, to get involved or sign up for a fundraising event please contact the HR team or our GMD.

Employee of the Year 2022

Remzi Syla

Remzi started his career with Interr 16 years ago and progressed within the company working as Head Doorman then managing the Licence Leisure sector for several years. He has gain in-dept knowledge of managing a team, the importance of building client relationships and delivering service standards to the agreed level. An opportunity presented itself and he decided to relocate and doing so remained with his Interr family working in WeWork.

His passion, professionalism and drive to support the client is ever present when carrying out his daily duties. He always goes out of his way to ensure any problems or issues on site are rectified before they become an issue or as soon as possible.

His relationship with the Community Team and clients at Dalton Place is outstanding and this is very clear to see when we visit. He goes out of his way to ensure each and every person that walks through the doors feels comfortable and at home whilst in the building. He is pretty much a part of the WeWork Community team representing Interr. He is deserving of the accolade given as he and we are all extremely proud of his achievements in his role.

Client's feedback

Remzi has been with the company for a number of years and the feedback received is always excellent! We recently received the following message from the client:

“Remzi is a prime example of an SO that you would like to leave our WeWork in the safe hands of. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he is on hand day or night to allay mine’s and the team worries about things that may happen on the building overnight or at the weekend. He demonstrates on a daily basis the professionalism that is expected, and goes above and beyond to ensure our members receive the best possible experience when the CM teams are not in the building. Remzi is an exemplary colleague and an absolute pleasure to work with.”

Employee of the Quarter 1 of 2022

Mauro Mignozzetti

Mauro has worked with us for several years now and after several promotions settled into his current role where he has worked for over 2 years. He consistently receives 100% in his KPI scores and is well loved and respected by the Boutique team. Nothing is too much trouble for him and as a result, he regular receives feedback such as ‘Mauro is supportive, professional, deals with the team very well, knows his job very well, is very good at customer service and always lets us know what is going on’.

Mauro works in one of the luxury boutique on Bond Street, always showing tremendous work ethic and customer service as well as great attention to detail. Mauro consistently supports not only his Boutique Manager and team but is supportive and super helpful to all at Interr including his colleagues, his Line managers and Supervisors. He is always punctual and has a 100% attendance rate. He goes the extra mile to help everyone he comes into contact with at work and always does so with a smile on his face and a positive can do attitude despite working long hours and 6 days a week. His Boutique manager has said of him: “Mauro is absolutely amazing, super professional, helpful, his communication and customer service is perfect, he is always on time, he knows every little detail.”

Employee of the Quarter 2 of 2022

Adolfo Jose Ferreira

Adolfo is very much respected by the River Island team and the store manager Rose always has excellent feedback about Adolfo claiming her team feels safe when he is working. He is a long-term officer and knows all the local shoplifters. He has built up an excellent relationship with the client and Oxford Street security, because of his tireless professionalism; the stock loss at this store has decreased and he receives positive customer feedback from customers using the store on a regular basis. There used to be a lot of negative feedback from this store but now it is one of the safest stores because of this officer. It is a huge flagship store on Oxford Street with only him working on site and he is an outstanding security officer.

Adolfo works at one of our busiest stores in Central London. We always get exemplary feedback from the managers on site and he is always happy to support the team. There was an incident recently in store. Adolfo was coming back from his break and he noticed something was going on at the ladies department. He approached the area and caught 2 people trying to steal various items. Adolfo managed to recover the items worth more than £1,500 and to remove these people from the store. We are so pleased to recognise his hard work and efforts with this well deserved nomination!

Employee of the Quarter 3 of 2023

Babatunde Ademolu Agbenla

Babatunde works at one of our corporate sites in a team of 19 staff and whenever there is a new member or cover officer on site, he will volunteer to help to take the officer around and explain the expectations. He seems to be a walking encyclopaedia of knowledge when it comes to security operations at his site and he loves to share his knowledge with anyone who will listen. Despite the overwhelming amount of standing that the lobby officers have to do, Babatunde consistently finds ways to help his co-workers and ensures the job is done to satisfaction.  His willingness to assist others and his commitment towards his job is unequalled.  He is quick to respond to requests for additional information by other team members and is thorough in ensuring all loose ends are completed. He is one of the friendliest people and he always arrives with a smile on his face and a happy greetings for his co-workers with a smiling face every day!

Babatunde has been with Interr for a number of years and he has been an excellent team players since day one. Few weeks ago there was a fire evacuation at Babatunde’s site and we received amazing feedback about Babatunde’s actions from his colleagues and the community team on site. Babatunde remained calm, he was helpful at all times and he made sure the floors were cleared and everyone left the building safely. Thank you for all your commitment.

Employee of the Quarter 4 of 2022

Karol Machajewski

Karol hasn’t been with Interr for as long as some of the other nominees, but in the time he’s been with Interr, he has been instrumental in the team’s success in achieving our set goals. His ability to rally the team during challenging periods when we have deadlines to meet whilst doing so in a friendly and outgoing deposition as well and a professional work ethic is admirable. Because of his contributions to the team, the team has received a lot of compliment from the client. Karol has constantly performed his duties with competence and going the extra mile, doing more than expected, as well as being a good communicator with excellent problem solving skills and a fantastic personality in his role!

Karol is an excellent and proactive officer who covers one of corporate clients. He has also been recently praised for his excellent IT skills. Karol came up with an idea to create a site map for the WeWork clusters and control room operations, to make it easier for the controllers to access and locate the closest building in the event of an emergency to deploy the cluster officers. He has only done it for the UK and our client was so impressed that they have asked Karol to update it with more information, so they can use the map for their sites in Paris as well.
