Central to our sustainability mission is interr’s ongoing journey towards Net Zero. We are proud to maintain our status as a carbon-neutral business, but our commitment doesn’t stop there — we continue to build on this foundation with measurable action and long-term goals to reduce our impact on the planet.

Being carbon-neutral means that we balance the carbon we emit with the carbon we remove or offset, through careful measurement across all three recognised scopes of emission — Direct Emissions (Scope 1), Energy-Related Indirect Emissions (Scope 2), and Other Indirect Emissions (Scope 3).

This balance is achieved through a combination of active emission reduction within our operations and participation in verified carbon offset programmes in partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain. Together, we are working towards a cleaner, more sustainable future — for our people, our clients, and the communities we serve.

This year, we participated in the following internationally certified carbon offsetting projects: Hydroelectric Power in Chile, the Cook Stove Project in Malawi, Energy-Efficient Lighting in India, and the Salkhit Wind Farm in Mongolia.

Our approach to sustainable security services combines innovation, responsibility, and long-term commitment to protecting both people and the planet.

We are transitioning to eco-friendly transportation, with electric and hybrid vehicles that help reduce fossil fuel use, cut emissions, and support cleaner air in the communities where we operate. Across our operations, we focus on energy efficiency and smart technology. Our Head Office uses intelligent energy management systems to reduce consumption, with a clear roadmap to switch to 100% renewable energy. We continue to modernize through digital transformation — replacing paper-based processes with cloud-based reporting, e-learning, and compliance systems, ensuring that sustainability and technology go hand in hand. Everyday practices also make a difference: from comprehensive recycling programmes and reduced single-use plastics to ethically sourced uniforms and equipment supplied by partners who share our environmental values.

Sustainability is embedded in our culture. Through environmental awareness training, every interr team member is encouraged to take responsibility — applying best practices to reduce our impact both on and off duty.

Our journey is guided by globally recognized frameworks, aligning our emission-reduction goals with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), ensuring our actions contribute meaningfully to limiting global temperature rise. Our progress and performance are independently verified through our EcoVadis accreditation, our external carbon-neutral partner, as well as our ISO14001 accreditation and the ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme) reflecting our commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

We are proud of our progress, but we know there is always more work to be done. We remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting the environment and look forward to making even greater strides in the future.
